Crail Ready for Service Date - 17/02/04
Today BT announced the ready for service (RFS) date for the Crail exchange for the 26/05/2004. So what does this mean? It means that on that date BT will have completed all the required upgrading work that is necessary and will enable ADSL broadband on the exchange. You will then be able to place your order with any Internet Service Provider (ISP) that supports broadband; your chosen ISP will then be able to tell you when your phone line will be activated. Some ISP will take pre-orders prior to the RFS date.

St Monans had a visit from the broadband bus at the weekend and their number took a big jump and now only need 75 registrations to hit their target.

Colinsburgh hits trigger level - 15/02/04
Colinsburgh this weekend has yet again proved that with a lot of hard work, what seemed to be an impossible target was achievable, as they hit their 100 pre-registrations. This has been achieved by a group of dedicated campaigners, and I’m sure we would all like to congratulate them on reaching their trigger. This means that within the next few weeks BT should issue a Ready For Service Date, this is the date that BT will enable the exchange for ADSL broadband and anyone wishing broadband can order it through their chosen ISP any time after that date.

Lundin Links are waiting for 54 registrations to trigger and St Monans is now sitting just below the 50% mark and hopefully won’t be too long until they reach the trigger levels.

Unfortunately there is still no news yet on the Ready For Service date for Crail or Elie, but hopefully it won’t be too long until there is some news.

Elie hits trigger level - 10/02/04
Elie is the latest village in the East Neuk to reach their target trigger level of 200. This means that within the next few weeks BT should issue a Ready For Service Date, this is the date that BT will enable the exchange for ADSL broadband and anyone wishing broadband can order it through his or her chosen ISP any time after that date.Lundin Links took a big jump in the numbers over the last week and are comfortably sitting at 244 of the 300 required, Colinsburgh is not far behind with 71 of the 100 required. Unfortunately there is still no news yet on the Ready For Service date for Crail, who hit their trigger level on 26th Jan.

Upper Largo Gets Ready for Service Date - 03/02/2004
BT has announced the ready for service date (RFS) for the Upper Largo exchange of the 02/06/2004. This is the date that BT will switch on ADSL broadband on this exchange and Internet users that are connected to this exchange will be able to order broadband. You may be able to pre-order your broadband service from your chosen ISP and they will be able to tell you the date you will be able to connect. This is normally 5 – 10 days after the RFS date.

Crail hits trigger level - 26/01/04
Tonight Crail reached their target trigger level of 150.This means that within the next few weeks BT should issue a Ready For Service Date, this is the date that BT will enable the exchange for ADSL broadband and anyone wishing broadband can order it through their chosen ISP any time after that date.

This is a great achievement with yet another exchange in the East Neuk hitting their trigger. The rest of the exchanges are rapidly heading towards their targets with both Elie and Lindin Links being over half way there and St Monans not that far behind. Well done to all the campaigners. Unfortunately there is still no news yet on the Ready For Service date for Upper Largo, who hit their trigger level on 12th Jan.

Upper Largo Reaches Trigger Level - 12/01/04
Upper Largo has just hit their target of 100. Well done to all the people involved in the campaign. Hopefully now that BT seem to have cleared most of the backlog of exchanges awaiting their RFS date Upper Largo should get theirs within the next 2 to 3 weeks. With any luck they may get an RFS sometime in May or June.

Anstruther / Pittenweem Gets Ready For Service Date - 12/01/04

Some ISP will take pre-orders prior to the RFS date.

Anstruther / Pittenweem reaches trigger - 09/12/03
Tonight the Anstruther / Pittenweem reached their target trigger of 500.This means that within the next 2- 3 weeks BT should issue a Ready For Service Date, this is the date that BT will enable the exchange for ADSL broadband and anyone wishing broadband can order it through their chosen ISP any time after that date.

We will keep you informed of when BT release this date, hopefully there won’t be too much delay in it being issued, due to the festive period.

This shows that it can be done, as the 500 target, we felt was a bit on the high side but hopefully this will encourage the other exchanges within the East Neuk to continue their campaigns and through time they too will reach their triggers.

Anstruther / Pittenweem exchange reaches 400
Our continuing campaign for broadband has been successful in managing to bring the number of registered votes in the Anstruther and Pittenweem exchange over the 400 mark. This is a great achievement as we were only given our trigger level less that 2 weeks ago, at which point the number of registrations was sitting at 309. This now only leaves 100 registrations to get before we hit our 500 target and BT will enable Broadband.

After the recent publicity in the local papers all of the exchanges in the East Neuk saw an increase in the number of registration.

Again we would like to thank all those who have helped so far and would ask that everyone continue to support the campaign byinforming friends and relatives of the campaign and urging them to register their vote.

BT release2300 new trigger levels - 17/11/03
Today BT released trigger levels for all but 600 of the smallest exchanges in the UK. This means that all the towns and villages in the East Neuk now have a target to work towards.

This is the best news that we could have hoped for as a result of BT's big review, which they have been conducting over the last 2-3 months. We hope that this will give our campaign a boast and put to bed the rumour that has been going around that BT would not upgrade our exchange as completely untrue. BT WILL ENABLE the exchange once the trigger level has been reached, as it has been the case with 100's of other exchanges where campaigns have been run. It is now more important than ever to get everyone to register their interest. Remember you are not committing yourself to anything by registering your vote of interest.

Meeting with Scottish Enterprise Fife- 27/10/03
We have had a meeting with Scottish Enterprise Fife to see what help they can give us in getting broadband to the East Neuk. The main point that come out of the meeting was that Scottish Enterprise Fife, in partnership with Fife Council are about to start a trial in the Howe of Fife using wireless connection to deliver broadband. They are currently conducting a technical survey of the area and hopefully the trial will begin in January or February. If this trial is successful they hope to be able to offer the wireless option in other parts of Fife, which with any luck will include the East Neuk. Unfortunately they are not able at this point to give any induction of time span as to when this may happen but we would imagine that it will be well into next year before anything can happen. Still this is a very positive sign and we are urged to be patient. But please don’t stop encouraging other people to register their vote, as we still need to continue to show that there is the demand for broadband in the East Neuk.
